Billabong have announced that they have re-signed Canadian wakeboarder Raphael Derome for another three years. At just the start of his career he has recently taken the wakeboard world by storm winning various competitions in the past year including Wake The Line in Cologne, Germany and he went on to earn himself the coveted Rail Rider of the Year award at the 2010 Transworld Wakeboarding Wake Awards that took place in Orlando towards the end of last year. Overall 2nd for Lex in the Ten Feet High series at Sheffield Cable!
No comments · Posted by Lauren in Wakeboarding
On Saturday it was the last of the Ten Feet High series up at the Sheffield Cable. The comp has been running every third weekend of the month since May, so five stops in total. Each rider’s top four scores are counted towards the running total for the overall results.
It’s always a super fun comp with Chris or James on the mic commentating and getting the crowd involved. The best part about the day is the wildcards. Rookies, Ladies and Intermediates have to do their wildcards before the drive tower, so it’s usually some huge stacks with raley attempts or maybe an S-bend! The Pro’s have their wildcards off the kickers and it is big air/best trick which is always good to watch. The level of riding over the summer has improved loads with little groms now throwing raleys and krypts, even blind judges!
I have had some good times up in Sheffield over the series which have outweighed the long drive up there! My results throughout the series are:
May: 4th
June: 5th
July: 1st
August: 2nd
September: 3rd
So overall in the series I came 2nd!! So stoked and looking forward to next year, thanks Sheffield!!

On Sunday the 29th August it was Ladies Morning down at Box End Park. The weather was not the bright sun we had hoped for but intstead it was a little chilly with all the wind, but the ladies still came to have some fun on the water. There was a group of newbies who were doing well with their kneeboards, all of them progressed onto easy-up wakeboards. There were some ladies trying new tricks such as surface 360’s, riding switch around the whole cable and some getting to grips with the kickers. One of the girls was practicing her new raleys!
One lady that stood out this week was Sue who rides at Box End. Last month I was coaching her and she hit her very first obstical, the box at WakeMK. Her board just slid out from under her and she fell but mangaed to catch her baby finger on her board and cut it quite badly. So after a trip to A&E to get it all cleaned up and some healing time, she was back at ladies morning and ready to get back on it! Now Sue is not far off the age of 60 and she is busting out the jump starts and gets them most of the time. So this Ladies Morning, the Two Seasons Voucher Prize went to Sue for her persistance and her no fear approach to the sport. Keep riding Sue!!

WMSki in Cirencester held a cable jam in celebrations of these long summer days at the moment. It was a fun contest and was a good warm up before nationals. The contest held the event in categories for the level of skill rookie intermediate and pro. Top prizes from supporting brands such as, Geode Networks, J-Star, Bern Unlimited and Watermark, and a hefty prize fund for the pro category. It turned out to be a fantastic day with great weather and good times all round.
Two Seasons rider Lex Balladon grabbed a respectful 3rd place in the Pro Ladies category!!!
